What's the difference between commercial and domestic boiler servicing?

Commercial boiler servicing covers larger, more complex systems with stricter compliance and record-keeping requirements than domestic servicing.

Commercial vs Domestic Servicing

Commercial boilers are typically larger, often cascade or multi-boiler installations serving offices, hotels or apartment blocks. Servicing differs in several ways:

  • Scale — larger output systems, multiple boilers, plate heat exchangers and pressurisation units
  • Compliance — commercial buildings require detailed maintenance logs, often for insurance and landlord compliance
  • Downtime management — commercial servicing is scheduled to minimise disruption to tenants or guests
  • Engineer qualifications — commercial gas work requires additional Gas Safe categories (e.g. COCN1, ICPN1)

RARE's commercial team services boilers from Hamworthy, Remeha, Vaillant and other commercial brands across managed buildings and hotels in London. See our Commercial Boiler Services page.
