Warranty Information

1. Our Warranty Commitment

Every boiler and heating system installation carried out by RARE Heating & Plumbing Services Ltd ("RARE", "we", "us", "our") is backed by two layers of protection: our own workmanship guarantee and the manufacturer's warranty on the equipment we install. This page explains what is covered, how long cover lasts, and how to make a claim.

2. Workmanship Guarantee

All installation labour carried out by RARE is guaranteed for 24 months from the date of completion. If a fault develops in our workmanship within this period, we will return to rectify it at no charge. This guarantee covers:

  • Pipework, joints and connections installed by our engineers
  • Flue installation and termination
  • System controls wiring and configuration
  • Commissioning and balancing of the heating system
  • Sealing, making good and finishing work carried out by our team

The workmanship guarantee does not cover faults caused by misuse, lack of maintenance, scale damage in hard-water areas (where a water softener was recommended but not installed), or modifications made by third parties after our installation.

3. Manufacturer Warranty Coverage

All boilers, cylinders, controls and appliances we supply are covered by the relevant manufacturer's warranty. As a Gas Safe registered installer, we register your appliance with the manufacturer on your behalf, activating the full warranty period from the installation date. Typical manufacturer warranty periods are:

  • Domestic boilers (Vaillant, Viessmann, ATAG, Worcester Bosch): 5–10 years parts and labour (model and registration dependent)
  • Unvented hot water cylinders (Megaflo, OSO, Telford): 1–25 years on the inner vessel (model dependent)
  • Smart thermostats and controls (Heatmiser, Tado, Honeywell): 1–2 years
  • Underfloor heating manifolds and pipe: 10–25 years (manufacturer dependent)
  • Water softeners (BWT, Harvey, Hague): 1–10 years (component dependent)

Exact warranty length depends on the specific model installed and, in some cases, the servicing schedule you agree to follow. Your installation documentation will confirm the exact warranty period for each appliance in your system.

4. Keeping Your Warranty Valid

Manufacturer warranties require an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer to remain valid. We strongly recommend enrolling in a RARE membership or maintenance plan, which ensures your system is serviced on schedule and your warranty is never at risk. Failure to service annually is the single most common reason manufacturers decline a warranty claim.

5. What Is Not Covered

Neither the workmanship guarantee nor the manufacturer warranty covers:

  • Damage caused by lack of annual servicing or neglect
  • Scale-related damage in hard-water areas where no softener is fitted
  • Faults arising from work carried out by other contractors
  • Accidental damage, flooding or freezing
  • Consumable parts such as filters, seals and gaskets replaced during routine servicing
  • Aesthetic damage to casings or finishes

6. Making a Warranty Claim

If you believe a fault is covered under warranty, contact us as soon as possible and we will guide you through the process:

  • Call us on 020 7458 4949 or email hello@rareplumbing.london with your details and a description of the fault
  • We will confirm whether the issue falls under our workmanship guarantee or the manufacturer warranty
  • For manufacturer claims, we will liaise directly with the manufacturer on your behalf and arrange the engineer visit
  • For workmanship claims, we will attend and rectify the issue at no charge within the guarantee period

Please have your installation date and, if available, the commissioning reference number to hand — these are included in the documentation pack left with you after installation.

7. Your Documentation Pack

After every installation, we provide a complete documentation pack containing:

  • Gas Safe commissioning certificate
  • Manufacturer warranty registration confirmation
  • Benchmark service record book (where supplied)
  • Electrical installation certificate (where applicable)
  • Building Regulations compliance notification

Keep this documentation safe — it is required when making a warranty claim and is valuable evidence of compliance if you sell your property.
