What maintenance does a heating system need going into winter?
Before winter, have your boiler serviced, bleed radiators, check system pressure, and top up inhibitor to avoid mid-winter breakdowns.
Pre-Winter Heating Checklist
- Book a boiler service in autumn, before the winter rush
- Bleed radiators to remove trapped air and ensure even heat
- Check system pressure is within the manufacturer's recommended range
- Test smart thermostat schedules ahead of colder weather
- Check inhibitor levels to protect against corrosion and sludge
- Insulate exposed pipework, especially in lofts or unheated spaces, to prevent freezing
